Chike and I [YoungPoetz] set it off again!!!!! another pretty successful performance, as we tried to keep it real with each other by cracking "yo momma" jokes on each other with a hip hop twist. it was all good EXCEPT for a little rudeness from some young female in the audience, who hackled Chike in the beginning with his dramatic pause. She we probably still bitter about our "cheatin" piece exposing women - its all good though, people nearby in the audience put her in her place. R.E.T.R.O. on a whole was great as usual talent wise, but I have to admit that I really do miss Tasia Ann Thomas' beautiful voice over a mic there every now and than, she's doing it big in LA, y'all. But of Course; don't take MY word for it, peep the video!

So,Building off of my first internship last year @ Boeing in Everett, I just wanna say that im back on for a busy summer. If traveling Abroad to South Africa for an Exploration seminar wasn't time consuming enough, Now, I have to choose to work for Boeing in either one of two Exelent Programs, BOEING and INROADS - both which I have the utmost respect for and excelent quality comming from each program. We'll see how it plays out in the following weeks...

The homey Chike and I joined forces for Black History Month to Create the '09 Crew's "Young Poet'z" - but don't get it twisted; it's not limited to just us - i see some big collabo's with other freshmen who haven't yet broken onto the Open Mic Scene but have just as much (if not more) talent. The new Year of 2010 has been good, to me; it has truly been a blessing to have the [possibly] random amount of luck I've had in the last two weeks. Now that i feel things are slowing for the moment (second), I'm a look back on what has happened 'cause i feel that I've been neglecting the sight for a while. So about this event:

I was getting ready for class, minding my own business, when an unknown number calls my phone. usually people pick up the phone and see unknown and go "click", but not me; I'm a nice person. The niceness pays off; the caller was someone named Alana, a student at the UW by day and a model/marketing agent for a clothing line, JEEPNEY, by night. She called to tell me she'd seen me at R.E.T.R.O. Open Mic one night and thought I had an interesting sense of style, similar to the brand. That day, they had a photo shoot @ Seattle Central and since their male model dipped on them last minute, they were in search for a replacement and she thought I would be the perfect candidate. luckily she got my number, cause she says she'd been hunting me down all day. I'm glad she did; I've never done anything like this before, except for the taking random photos with friends that accumulate on this site. later that day, i met up with everyone; the photographer, Sunny, Jeepney's CEO, Karlo, the intern, (another) Jordan, and the other model besides Alana, Tom. we made it happen and these are some of he results! Gotta Thank them for that opportunity! - they all said we'll be in touch so I hope thats a good sign! ; )

So we were just hanging out as a fam, me my bro, and two of my moms good friends from work, going out to explore Las Vegas.

...And man was it crazy! Fremont Street is where Snoop Dogg's "Signs" video was shot for people who didn't know...it felt like things haven't changed a bit since then. Even though we didn't do much, there was a lot going on were we were, and it just seemed to me that everything was flowing: the random but enjoyable free shows & events were there, casinos, the right music was bumpin, I was enjoying the moment.
-And I really wanted to hit up some places advertised on the radio; some high-end parties were going on. Unfortunately, I didn't have the crew [or the $$$ or time lol] so I finished the evening playing late night basketball at 24 Hr Fitness with the bro. The cut came on the radio ["She Got A Donk"] and my mom was cuttin' up; she was out there in the parking lot dancing, lol- I got it on video, but I'm a not embarrass her like that, lol. Anyway, we get in there, and my brother Cam, who is ONE NASTY BASKETBALL PLAYER, if i might add, just 13 yrs old, is taking on grown men [and winning no problem]- like cats my age or still in HS. you gotta watch him in the future...I'm a go in there one day and vid him cause that's where he lives; besides the school court or our house when it's not football season.

(when i get an EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE, or whenever somebody will let me use their computer, i'll put together a legit video of ALL the footage & some shows, this is just a teaser.)

BEDC Executive Seminar/2009 Minority Business Awards

WOW.
So this took a chunk out of my finals week for studying, but it was a good chunk well spent [if that just made any sense, lol]. it was held downtown at the Westin Hotel -the funny story behind our journey there was our bus ride with an absurdly drunk man with comments about my hair and the girls I was with; harmless, but nonetheless funny, lol- and offered us freshmen as well as a couple HS students I knew from the Young Executives Of Color (YEOC) program, and of course older student and the Grad kids. We had to build a tower as a part of the seminar in competition with the other groups, but I forgot to take pic, so sorry world! And once again, I had to put my "dining etiquette" learned in YEOC [and reiterated in ALVA] at the banquet, were I got to meet some pretty powerful people, including the CEO of Alaska Airlines and the Man behind the business that won The Local minority business award as well as the national award for it too. It was a good night.

OK So we didn't win, that would be sketchy since we hosed the event, but we still had a pretty G gingerbread house, complete with Santa [Greg would argue about the other house with a lit up tree and Optimus Prime] here are two photo; id have more, but my hand were too messy, duh, lol
The Event was hosted by our club, the Association of Black Business Students (ABBS), and in attendance were many other business and non-business oriented clubs including the Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA), Sisterhood, African Student Association, and R.E.T.R.O. updating on the stroll competition that went down last weekend hosted by

... a lot of fun thats what it was! hosed my Andrew [from RETRO] and Uncle L himself, you can just tell all the hysterical color commentation that was going on, and a crazy show as well. we had a lot of fun repping that 253 BABY!!!!!!!!! but shout-outs to everyone else too; we all in the 206 now, so i guess its cool. afterwards we went with the sis Natalie and the whole gang Zeta's to their fraternity Brother's [that's a Sigma if you aint know] newest restaurant that opened up on the ave called "Taste of Chicago" and trust me; it bangs! we were up in there for hours eating, getting into heated games of 3-on-3 chess, and dancing and strolling, even the Bubblegum rap made a comeback and Solomon's service on (you guessed it) Chicken!

Hey Fans of any-and-everything to do with a mic:

if you haven't been to R.E.T.R.O. aka Open Mic Night @ the ECT [Ethnic Cultural Theater], you're [once again] missing out! this HAS to be the most crackin' annual event on campus every month. this month, it was Packed: and im not talking just sit-in-the-isle-way-and-leave-space-for-people-to-come-in kinda packed, in talking, ITS-SO-PACKED-IN-HERE-WE-GOTTA-OPEN-THE-DOOR-SO-THE-CROWD-OUTSIDE-CAN-SEE. LOL but its was all good:the act came through and did their thing - Shoot, even I went up there and did a little spoken word, lol [too bad no one got that on tape! lol] My homie Chike, and the homie Ryan, among others, got the best seats in the house sitting on the sofa on stage behind the acts so that how i got some pretty good shots of the action via my NEW camera lol

BUT RETRO was a little Hazy for skipping out on Chike's turn, skipping him and the show ending;i dk if there was some kind of lack of communication or whatever, but not cool, RETRO, not cool. - better luck next time.

but nearing the end of finishing, Harshil [or mike, I can't remember] gets a text from one of my space-mates [my word for the all-girl's underneath our floor that we share the lounge with] that they're making Crêpes in their kitchenette so, of course, we finished our work real quick and head up to get some! i never really had crepes like that before; unless i was at IHOP. but it was a lot of fun; and whip cream, and chocolate frosting, and raspberries, and other random things I can't think of right now. afterwards, we all hung out in Karen's room and listened to music and watched videos as always... fun times!

the main reason you havent heard from me in a while is because of...Midterms, midterms, MIDTERMS! i had the biggest one i feel in my Microeconomics class today, and i'm glad i finally got it out of my way. ive been studying aaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllll weeek for this and studying is tough you know; long nights, long books to memorize and.....lots of paparazzi??? we were studying and some wierdo with a camera just approaches me and [i'm guessing he was recording me], cause he was just standing there, watching me and making me feel uncomfortable studying, so i confronted him: had a little issue, so this was the result right here in this video.

so this event went pretty good, despite the drama around the claiming of tickets, and who is going vs. who didn't, but its all good cause we all LOVE EACH OTHER, and are GROWN FOLK now, so we shouldn't be arguing about petty decisions..even though it would of really have taken off if everyone was able to go! [im trying to play on both sides, here.]

we had hella fun, and the DJ played all the cuts, some i haven't heard at a dance since middle school, or even elementary! lol. he was taking me back that night, and i lost my voice from the aftermath of everything.

it makes up for the ridiculously long waiting time at Red Robbins around the corner and actually getting chairs for us to sit in while there, but the FOOD was grade A, of course.

...not much to say except you had to of been there; and i hope some of these photos will do some justice... enjoy.

from PWC Price Waterhouse Cooper [we had a celebrity in the house; the guy who was on the back of the PWC magazine talked to us! lol] and other companies on display to INROADS, and then organizations on campus, like ABBS, HSA and other organizations aw well as certain Degrees [my favorite was learning about getting an international business certificate (SISB) to attach to my Degree and possible study abroad opportunities] as well as Case Competitions for the school locally and nationally - we got the "FRESH-men-FOUR" going into our first one next weekend! so that will be something to look forward to in future posts! anyway, its getting late and im slurrrrrrrrrrring my speeeeeeeeeeeeeech, so gooooooooooooooooddddnighttttttt!!

just wanted to holla at yall to let you know the story of what happened to your freshmen blogger last night, for anyone who doesn't know and people who didn't get the full story. I was talking to my adopted godmother, Ms. Haskins, who had helped me so much on getting to where i am right now and i wanted to let her know too, so i thought, "why re-type this whole story when i can copy & paste!" now this was the message that i sent to her, the Raw and Straight Up version, but because of some of the details mentioned in the story, i've decided to hide the confidentiality of certain people and of my own thoughts by "______ ___ ________" - you'll just have to read and find out (and im sure some really nosy people will try to "______ __ _______"

"thanks miss Haskins! the weirdest thing happened to me yesterday; i was helping out with Essence of Success, you know the black student recruit even for UW, and we did the scavenger hunt right after my last class so i was running around the campus with just a t-shirt and a sweater on; i forgot my hat at the dorms. we it was over, i made my way back to terry and on the way, caught the coldest case of the chills, so by the time i got to my room, i just wanted to lay down - badly.

crawled into bed, and the sheets -and my body- were burning up. so i called some girls, some who were pre-med, you know, to figure out what was wrong with me cause 1.) student health was too far away on north campus and 2.) Аз смятах, че ще момичета ще бъде по-сладък ПОСОЧЕТЕ жалостив), отколкото като някои от тези хора може да усети ме до вила ме легло; просто не звучеше нереден, lol. витки, никой не че аз нар. би могъл или ще ми помогне [наглеждам ви аз не можа да призовават всички аз смятах, че може да ми помогне; някои от причините са били управлявани от други фактори, като плевене на момичетата наистина грижи за мен и всички, които, =)] so, i went downstairs to eat wrapped in a blanket, lol. ran it to some of my inner circle friends, but i wasn't hungry, so i headed upstairs soon afterward. layed down and then another one of my good friends seduced me into rapping because he had figured out how to record on another one of our friends Mac Book. did that, layed down and the chills got worse. eventually took some medicine after talking to my RA, Ricky (the coolest in terry!)....and then the stupid fire alarm goes off, so now i gotta make my way down stairs and outside.

its like what Maya Angelou said, "if someone shows you who they are, believe them" (Tyler Perry's version, lol) and that night, i got to learn about a lot of people's tendencies and their levels for commitment, cause YOU KNOW "I'll take a bullet (1)" for ANYONE; regardless if i know them or not; i'm just that kind of person.

but after i started walking that way to the hospital i started to feel much better; i was getting less chills and my body felt cooler, but after checking in, i still had a fever of about 100 (a little lower, but still high). then i got to wait for like 2 and a half hours for the doctor to come -one of the longest; i fell asleep twice he still didn't show- but eventually one of my homies, Mike walked in to check if i was cool, and after 10 minutes of some real talk, the doctor miraculously shows up. eventually i got diagnosed with with a mild flu and they sent me out not too soon afterwards. they have me on leave for a week but i feel pretty good right now, minus some minor chills, and im going to sneak out early to go back to class in about two, three days tops =]."

so the Roommates and i were chillin', chillin'-chillin', like we always do , with two females in our room(of course, lol), and then the homie walks in so we're all just shooting breeze, and next thing you know, he whips out a harmonica.

...i haven't seen one in ages.

In all seriousness on this one though;

this has to be one of my greatest networking events that I've been to so far this year, and its only been a couple of weeks into my first year on campus. before you know it, I'm doing a good enough a job to make an impression on Ernst & Young exec's and off on an all-expense trip to San Francisco i go. i learned SOOOOO many things about myself and the other around me in just three days. the one thing that sticks and i can't get rid of: "You're always on." from the moment you walk in, someone is watching you, so you always have to stay on you p's and q's from how you act, to what you're wearing and your appearance, it all is taken into account. i interview with a lot of people and got to meet other students who were in the same place as me [4 freshman out of roughly 100 students] and learning from others who have already been im my shoes and had great advice. i loved talking to people who were already in the workplace, imparting tons of knowledge one to young students like myself. overall, its an experience i won't forget for some time.

Hey y'all, another installment of the blog goin' on strooong and this one is pretty special if you asked me. so josh, Vinny 'doze and my self were heading to/returning from the IMA when we met up by the fountain and man-OH-man; did they have a surprise waiting for us!!! Lamborghini's. everywhere. so we talked to some pretty important [i.e. high class] people running the presentation/gala and the story is: Lamborghini and UW are teaming up in the engineering department to work on plans for incorporating "composite" (think carbon fiber x100) into the Lamborghini way of life. From previous internships this summer working at Boeing [yes, I REALLY interned at THE Boeing Company this summer]- simply put; its on a parallel track with the new 787 Dreamliner in the fact that they too are incorporating composite into their structure

...did you know you have to "bake" it first before you use it?? [probably not]

but the overall event for us focused around the people in attendance getting tipsy on the lawn of our campus and the cars of course. even Sir Mix-A-Lot showed up; we never found him but we sure did find his Phantom parked in the back!!! lol- don't tell him i tried to open the suicide doors. =]P

THEEEEEEE Block Party [!]

whaduupppp world[ world!] ... world [WORLD!]

so the next night over we hear about a block party thrown right behind our dorms in a building called the ECC (for all those on campus that don't know ECC = Ethnic Cultural Center)with YOU GUESSED IT: FREE Food. man, us college students are ALWAYS hungry so whenever those two words are put together in a sentence, we show up in waves. this turned out to be one of the most chill events so far this year and for that, the ECC earns the "Most Chill Approved" Award by the Roommate'z: its the perfect spot for anyone who's just looking to meet new people and simply hang out; that's all people do in there anyway from what i here. there's a big sofa so you can sit and a big TV to watch stuff on, not to mention some of the coolest and Most Chill staff on Campus of course [hey Victor!]. this night was the perfect night for them to show off their stuff; it was also the first night that its employees, along with a lot of other upper-classmen, got to see how the TL Gang of the Class of 2013 does it on the dance floor cause at some points we simply took over.

... A real chill night, and afterwords we all went back to our respected rooms and got any leftover homework done.

so into another flashback of our Dawg Days, i stumbled into red square on the first day of classes and got REALLY upset when i had to pass all the festivities to go to class. bummer. but i got funny when i wandered into Kane Hall and realized it wasn't my class when my friend texted me saying, "hey i saw you!" [well thanks, Leah! lol] and i walked out in front of 100 people. turns out my first class never met since it was a quiz study on a lecture we haven't had yet. but never fear; the Roommates were there!!!! we had a lotta fun picking up random items (and females) from Red Square (and the HUB lawn) so all i can say about that is i got my money's worth: and now my small cubicle of a fridge is sittin' full and pretty. i think i won just about everything, yo! and ran into all the homies along the way!!

oh yea - and i cant forget the LOVELY Asian sororities showing us love along the way too - they didn't have to do it but they did!!!

......and this was only day 1: look out for day 2 coming soon??!!!

- i wouldn't recommend it if you get like us!! =] but everyone is entitled to their own opinions and the people were pretty friendly [after getting in], at least under the influences.

but hey; it was all fun & games!

The Fred Meyer Story

Man oh man world. this was a crazy night. so we were a little bit late getting back to the dorms for the big shop-and-save discounts at a Fred Meyer closed to the public and open to UW students for one night only. i say that because 10 minutes cost us like and hour and a half in line; it was THAT deep. luckily we passed the time with old school games, a lot of verrry random singing and even a little Air Basketball rematch [which Serena and I won, of course, serving basksets like hotcakes and breaking anckles like chiropractors out of a job]. by the time we got there, there was a DJ's getting people dancing and a whole lot of shopping. I've never seen that many people in the soap isle trying to get their hands on some head & shoulders, man. it was like a club in there and things i normally wouldnt do in a store came out of me on this one. but it was all good - untill i leave and the alarm goes off-good thing they only forgot to take off the ink-tainted clothes lock, cause i was about to go off too [lol]. we made it home and then got a group together to play some games till 2 in the morning..

-yeeeaa, that's the cue to leave. lol

Rock Wall Masters!

OK, sooooo after a long day at the IMA we though we'd try out one last thing: the rock wall. now I've been rock climbing before but this one takes the cake. our big ol' group never knew we were standing in the midst of the rock wall legends; im talking about Josh "Carlos" Buenavista and Serena "Saralena" Merfalen! like, they got strapped up on the hardest wall they had, and ate it like scooby snacks!! josh just knock out the strapless wall, no problem, and even had time to make a phone call in the middle of it - he looked like Spider-man, LOL. I mean it was real vicious, meanwhile i was on the beginner wall trying get my wall-legs going, you gotta admire the effort of these two, My Heroes!

UW Innitiation! [the making of the W]

The video is pretty explanatory. thats was A LOT of fun. NO LiE. and the lines got much longer than that; i took up the whole stadium! we eventually played games including a massive rock-paper-scissors game in which the winner, Kristen, took home a massive flat screen TV. crazy right? met a whole bunch of new ppl and a lot of old ones and got to act a fool in the stadium - well i wasn't THAT crazy, lol but this is just my Experience. anyone got the big "W" picture id really love to put it right here! - and this freeze frame of another 253 counselor, Coley, for this video is Priceless.

UW Convocation....and ART!

WATS really good people? so i don't have a lot of info on this one as far as the convocation goes, it was really,

1.) sit down
2.) listen up
3.) leave with a great deal of more information than i came in with, from UW's finest.

it was a pretty serious -I'm surprised that one of the speakers shouted out a lot of places, but no 253 man, no 253....but it was still a good speech and still one of my Fav's of the day.

afterward, we went to kill time at the Henry art gallery. i learned a lot about light bulbs and art...

Tea Time

Whats goood wit ya people?!? bringing it back one step at a time.

....i mean, we can be live and hype all-day, everyday right? just wild n'out
-yea we could, but that's not good for the body or the brain so me and the roommate Brian headed down the hall to one of our homie's Jeff's room. for everyone that don't know, Jeff Wang and Mike Yoo are one of the few people in our dorms that have a double room and the only one i know of on our side of the floor that's always open. Plus the fact that there's always music and big groups of people hanging out in there. i popped my head in one time and they all were having tea on the floor (my roommate was already in there and had never invited me - you lose cool points for that one Brian, lol) and it turned out to be pretty relaxing.

I have to say that Mike and Jeff have one of the MOST CHILL rooms on the floor so if you're ever in the area you should definitely pop on by to hear them too; they're also musicians and occasionally have jam sessions for the floor in there, complete with an amp, so Shout-outs to the Playa's Mike and Jeff @T-919[I say that for all the little females that are always in their room].

....you know what? i'ma START an AWARD for ALL the dorms on the UW Seattle Campus called the "MOST CHILL APPROVAL", offered by the roommates of course, so if you ever meet us or already know us and we're in the area, at your dorms on you floor or whatever, invite us up to your rooms so you can earn a (coveted) spot on this blog's MOST CHILL Post's! -Outro.

Whadupp World?? im back for another Dawg Days story. so The Roomates and i were straight kicking it in my room when all of a sudden we here this banging and laughter in the hallway. i turn my head out the doorway and low and behold it happen to be these two girls running and out of breath. we invite them to the room and they decided to chill with us for a bit. turns out they were trying to ditch some guy they met that kept following them. they like liked the jerk cuts we were bumpin, but had none the dance, so OF COURSE we had to change all of that!! even one of my roommates tride to learn it too!!! the pics and video speak for them selves and it turned out to be a really good way to meet some really cool people- Shout-outs to the homie Brian and my new 8th floor connects: Leah and her roommate! Jerk Lesions for everybody!

Dance & A Movie!

Whats good world? Its the boi Jay.D back for another one. SO, to let everyone know, in my next couple of blogs ima talk about whats been going on in the last week. TWO WORDS: DAWG DAYS man is been so crazyy! its waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to try and type.

-Oh wait: thats why i have a blog! [LOL-you're supposed to laugh.] so one of the first major events we did was going out to the quad for a movie. sound pretty simple right? well its funny cause hours before we go to see the movie, a group of my peoples [Louie, Mike, Marvin Brian my roomate, and myself] go and knock on just about every girls dorm we could think of [or who would open it for us lol] between the two buildings and a few floors for a time and place for us to all meet up and go and before we knew it, we met about 70 people and phones full of numbers. so it wasn't a surprise when on our way back to the dorms to meet everyone, we were met by a 200+ plus freshman mob headed in the opposite direction. so we all get there, the movie, "I Love You, Man" was verrrrrry funny (Slappin' de base, lol) and there was a lil dance that at first was just OK, but then we requested the cuts and got it poppin!.....for ten [10] minutes. its all good tho! ill let the pics speak for themselves! -Later.

So i'm a freshman out here in Seattle and just moved in - Straight up: this ish has been crazy. fist event we runnin on people's doors knockin down every on every floor in TERRY and LANDER: the most [if not all freshmen to us].

its mostly TERRY cuz it cracks over here son! everyone from all the dorms comes here; [shout-outs to the 9th floor: The Beach is the BEST!!!!] even the Lander folk.
